WHAT IS L‘MONO

L´mono is a project in Bilbao that creates a place where artists of different disciplines can work and develop a space of meeting, exhibition and get-together. The project is financed by studio rent and the proceeds from events such as concerts, dance performances or audiovisual expositions... L’mono seeks to be a place in motion; open to various, long- or short-term, innovative work propositions. It is changing constantly. The in-house dance studio collaborates with the activity of companies, festivals and artists concurrent to the offer of regular courses: contemporary dance, improvisation and composition. The in-house recording-studio is a fundamental base to give a place for sound artists, musicians, etc. to freely explore their ideas.

RESIDENT ARTISTS

LLOQUE DJ SET: After her residence in a Jazz club and activities in Belgium’s leading cultural hotspots, Lloque took up residence in L’Mono. Her style is deeply electronic, entrenched in Soul and Jazz, containing all types of contemporary tendencies.

OLAF KEHLER: Different techniques of movement and dance: Release and improvisation, Contact, Feldenkrais, Butoh and Performance-Writing. His artistic experience is no less important, including different performances of his own (as choreographer and dancer), collaborations with companies from Germany, Danmark, Switzerland and more. He worked as a dancer in companies like Paul Berstein, Vilbjorg & Dead Fish Fuck and Vincent Caccialano. He was founding member of Catapult: a travelling performance collective which is created by different artists of various changing backgrounds - of motions, theatre, music and visual arts. With his short film “Die junge Frau und Land” he won the Bavarian prize premioKJL-Premio in the category “most extraordinary movie”.

AITZOL BASALDUA: Painting, installation, audiovisual, jam sessions. Because of his long relationship with visual art and music, he creates a space in which he uses both elements. He is in charge of the audio studio (digital recording) where he creates models and audiovisual works.
